New language pack ?

Post by Peter Power »

hello,
greetings from Helsinki. I have played with Transcript and it's concept and implementation are cool. Hope that you have energy to go further !

I noticed that a german translation is done of the software. Are you interested in new languages ? I could try with a translation to Finnish (GUI and Help file). How to proceed ?

regards

Hello Peter,

New translations for Transcript are very welcome.
To translate the GUI go look in the folder where you installed Transcript. There's a file called Default.lng. Copy that file and give it the name of your language e.g. Finnish.lng.
Now open that file in a plain text editor and translate all strings on the right side of the "=" to your own language.
As soon as you're about halfway done or something you can send me that file. After that I will give you the lisense code for a free license of Transcript. (Language translators get the full version for free but I want some proof first that they really intend to translate it and not make empty promises ;) .)

If after translating the GUI you feel up to it, you can translate the help file as well, beware this is a considerable amount of work!
For translating the help file you will need to use Helpmaker (version 7), available for free here:
http://www.vizacc.com/gen_download.php
Contact me to get the English helpfile to translate for this (my e-mail is listed in the about box of Transcript and in the helpfile).

Note: I'm way behind in finishing 2.3 due to lack of time. There will be some new strings to translate for that version but I have not yet added them to the language files. I hope I can do something about that in March.

There's now a new updated language file available for translating.

Default English language file:
http://www.jacobboerema.nl/Downloads/Default.zip

To translate change the name of the enclosed file Default.lng to the name of your language and change the strings in it to the right of "=" from English to your language.

Hi Jacob,

coming back to your site I noticed the new version 3.2 with it's many changes. They look very interesting.

Find enclosed the finnish translation file to be added to some coming build. The help.chm was compiled so how could it be translated ?

Can you provide me with the registrated version so I test the functionalities of it also.

Regards

Sorry, I meant version 2.3. The 3.2 is probably far away in future...
